In September 2015, something incredible happened: all 193 Member States of the United Nations came together and adopted a plan called Agenda 2030. It is a road-map for the next 15 years to make our world a better place by ending extreme poverty, fighting inequality and injustice, and taking care of our planet.

A big part of this plan is the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They are a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, both now and in the future. There are 17 goals in total, and they are a call for action by all countries, whether they are developed or developing. What is important is that these goals came from a process that was more inclusive than ever, with governments working together with businesses, civil society, and individuals right from the start.

We must leave no one behind!

So, why is it so important that we "leave no one behind"? This video gives us a snapshot:

Stikado is committed to being part of this mission from the Agenda 2030. We want to make sure that everyone, especially those who are struggling the most, gets the support and help they need to live a happy, healthy and fulfilled life.

SDGs and human rights

Stikado, as a human rights organization, is focusing its activities and initiatives on SDGs 10, 12, 16, and 17. These goals are the pillars of our mission to create a fairer, more sustainable world.

Let's start with SDG 10, focused on reducing inequalities. We want to make sure that everyone, no matter their background, has the same opportunities. We want to empower vulnerable and marginalized communities and individuals and make society fairer for everyone.

Then there is SDG 12, which is about responsible consumption and production. We want to spread the word on how our choices affect the planet and each other. We want to encourage everyone to make choices that are good for the environment and humans. That means actively protecting the environment by using resources wisely and cutting down on waste.

SDG 16 is super important for us too. It is all about peace, justice, and strong institutions. Stikado believes in standing up for human rights and making sure that laws are fair for everyone. We want to help build a world where everyone feels safe and respected.

And last but not least, there is SDG 17, which is about partnerships for the goals. We know that we can't do it alone. That is why we are always looking for opportunities to work together with governments, businesses, other organizations and individuals. We believe that only by joining forces, we can make a real positive difference.

By committing to these SDGs, we are showing our dedication to defending human rights, promoting sustainability, and building a better world for everyone. We are excited to keep working to achieve all SDGs and leave a positive legacy for generations to come!
